JS Bank Partners with AHD to Provide Clean Drinking Water and Combat Waterborne Diseases in Flood-Affected and Coastal Rural Communities

In 2024, JS Bank partnered with the Association for Humanitarian Development (AHD) to assist flood-affected communities and rural coastal areas in accessing safe and clean drinking water. This initiative is part of a concerted effort to eradicate waterborne diseases such as cholera, gastroenteritis, and diarrhea, which have long affected poor and vulnerable populations living in regions with limited sanitation.

As part of this collaboration, AHD organized a Training of Trainers (TOT) session on September 10, 2024, focused on the use of the Nadi filter—a simple yet highly effective household water filtration system. The training was conducted for 60 households in District Thatta’s Union Council Tando Hafiz Shah, specifically in Village Haji Sakhani. These participants were trained on how to use the Nadi filters to ensure their water is safe for drinking.

Following the training, AHD distributed 60 Nadi filters along with all required materials to the households. This provision of Nadi filters will help these families significantly reduce their risk of contracting waterborne diseases by improving access to clean and safe drinking water. This partnership underscores JS Bank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and AHD’s mission to enhance public health in undeserved communities. Together, they are making a meaningful difference by equipping these flood-affected and coastal rural communities with the tools and knowledge necessary to protect themselves from preventable diseases, ultimately improving their health and well-being.
