Contigency Planning for 2012-2013
The overall objective of this document is to outline a timely AHD disaster response - providing a mechanism for effectively reducing the expected losses due to torrential rains or floods in the targeted districts where AHD focuses with its resources. This contingency plan has been developed to prepare AHD for a more effective response to the humanitarian needs of people affected, taking into account lessons learned and needs identified from the monsoon flood response of 2010 and 2011. In order to mitigate the severe impacts of flooding witnessed since last two years, this Flood Contingency Plan has been prepared to quickly identify and respond to emerging humanitarian needs as a result of the foreseeable flooding incidence.
- Displacement is highly likely to occur
- Priority needs: shelter, food, water and sanitation, nutrition, livelihoods, protection, health, NFIs and emergency education support
- Access to remote areas and evacuations of beneficiaries will be very difficult and risky
- Grassroots early warning systems are currently weak
